Great ways to use essential oils for your dog

[ad_1]

Here are some simple ways to prevent health issues for your dog. Young Living’s essential oil products are natural ways to promote health, naturally prevent pests, and help stop tooth decay. Please keep in mind that not all brands of essential oils are processed according to Young Living’s standards and if you use other brands you may not get the benefits and may cause harm to your pet.

I am a dog breeder and am able to test essential oils and then view the results. I’ve attended many classes, read many books, and listened to countless podcasts about essential oils. I have had the pleasure of speaking with a few vets who use essential oils. I tried the suggested apps and found out first hand, if the solutions are any good.

These solutions have many benefits without the expensive costs of the vet or the side effects of man-made products. Here are some of the Young Living products I tested. The results have exceeded my expectations. One great benefit is that I no longer apply unnecessary toxins to my dogs or thicken toxins myself.

Purify is a blend of essential oils made by Young Living and is great for cleaning dogs’ ears. Put a drop of disinfectant on the palm of your hand, rub the tip of a cotton swab into the drop and then clean the dog’s ear. Repeat the process with a new end of the cotton ear for the other ear. Repeat the process daily until the ear cotton is free of impurities. Ear mites are killed instantly. Dr. Melissa Shelton, DVM had done previous tests and witnessed the death of ear mites when she applied the purification to a microscope slide. Disinfecting or spraying on their bedding kills pests, disinfects, and keeps your home free of critters without the use of harmful chemicals.

Lavender is a natural solution to stain tears. Once daily, place a drop in the palm of your hand and then use your index finger to apply the drop by rubbing your finger across the upper bridge of the dog’s nose just below his eyes. Lavender opens the eye canals and kills the bacteria caused by the tear.

I have two dogs with eye injuries from hunting, interaction with other pets, or other problems. Dr. Melissa Shelton, DVM told me about a dog who was a last chance candidate with an eye problem. I used lavender mixed with water and had success with my eye problem. I mixed a solution of 8 drops of lavender into 8 ounces of steamed distilled water and 1 can of USP Grade Sodium Chloride/Sodium Bicarbonate. The package is half a teaspoon. Sodium Chloride/Sodium Bicarbonate Grade USP can be purchased at Walgreen’s or online; It is used to rinse the sinuses neti pot. It is an emulsifier and prevents the solution from separating because oil and water do not mix. If you are not using an emulsion, shake the solution each time before use. This combination is similar to eye wash solutions used for humans. Put the mixture in a glass spray bottle. Spray the solution 2-3 times into the affected eye once daily and watch healing begin.

Curly, the English Springer’s eye was quite large from a hunting accident that occurred in 2006 at the age of 8. The eye was getting bigger and it looked like it was about to explode. I was sure he would need surgery and he might lose his eye. I started using the solution and his eye returned to its normal size and the cataract became smaller. It is amazing.

This solution repels pests, relieves skin problems and makes their coats soft. It also relieves muscle pain. Mix one drop of lavender and one drop of peppermint with one ounce of steamed distilled water. Then add a drop of Young Living Shower Gel and Shower Gel as an emulsion to 6 ounces of water in a spray bottle. Spray the solution weekly or as needed and then rub it with your fingers over your dog’s spine. Your dog will love this routine.

Thieves, another blend by Young Living is excellent for helping prevent tooth decay. In a 4-ounce glass spray bottle, mix 2 drops of Thieves in 1 ounce of steamed distilled water. I use the solution at night to spray on my dog’s gums and upper teeth. Lift the upper lip to either side of the dog’s mouth and spray the solution onto the teeth. Thieves kill bacteria that cause tooth decay. Thieves make the dog’s immune system stronger, it is a natural antibiotic. Antibiotics made from medicines kill both bad and good bacteria. You will need to build up the good bacteria back up with probiotics like Life 5, yogurt, kefir, etc. if you are using man-made antibiotics. Thieves’ solution is a cheaper, easier, and healthier way to brush their teeth daily or bring your dog to the vet for the recommended 6-month dental cleaning.

Start educating yourself by reading labels and then searching for ingredients on your computer in your browser’s search bar. I use the Small Live Animals shampoo to bathe my animals. Contains essential oils that clean and repel pests without the harmful side effects of other pet shampoos. It does not contain any carcinogenic ingredients such as sodium lauryl sulfate, which is found in most shampoos. It can be used as needed and not just once every 30 days as mentioned in most pet shampoos.

Another great product from Young Living is Animal Scent Ointment. I have been using it for wound healing. Hounds get nicks and cuts when hunting. I apply to their sores and their wounds heal faster. It is great to apply after removing dew claws or docking. It speeds up the healing process and prevents infections. I put the ointment on my skin at night because I need to wash my hands often; The ointment heals my dry hands faster than other products I’ve used in the past. In addition to the absence of any toxic substances.

One standout product is Young Living Thieves Home Cleanser. I used it to clean my kennels. Mix 30 oz. water to 1 oz. Household cleaner for burglars in a spray bottle and sprayed on the kennel. It kills germs and bacteria and is safe for dogs even if they lick their feet. I don’t need to remove water or food, thieves are a natural product that is safe to swallow. I don’t need to rinse it or let it air dry. It does not burn my lungs or irritate my skin. I remove the dog while spraying the solution; It contains cinnamon and can be irritating to their eyes as the haze settles and this only takes seconds.
